Who writes Nth Health, and what qualifies the method rather than the person.

NTH Health is written by Guy Stockwell, who founded it.

Not a clinician

I am not a doctor, dietitian, pharmacist or nutritionist, and this site does not present me as one. Nothing here is medical advice, and no amount of research changes that.

Saying so up front matters more than it might seem. A great deal of supplement content is written by people with no health qualification and presented as though it were written by people who have one. I would rather tell you what I am.

Why this site exists

I started looking properly at supplement labels because I wanted to know what was actually in the things I was taking, and found it unexpectedly hard to work out.

Magnesium was where it started. The number on the front of the bottle is usually the weight of the compound, not the amount of magnesium in it, and those two numbers can differ by a factor of six or more depending on the form. Working that out took longer than it should have, and most of what I found written about it was either wrong, selling something, or both.

The same problem shows up with almost every nutrient once you look. That gap is what this site is for. The guides here are the versions I wanted to read: what the compound actually is, what the label is actually telling you, what has actually been measured in people, and where the evidence runs out.

What qualifies the content, if not credentials

The method, and you can check it.

Every guide reads the primary research rather than summarising other people's summaries of it. Every claim is sourced, with a direct link, at the foot of the page. Study limitations are described rather than omitted. Where something has not been tested, the guide says it has not been tested rather than reaching for a plausible-sounding mechanism.

That approach is set out in full on the editorial standards page, and the corrections policy exists because the approach is only worth anything if I fix things when I get them wrong.

The site is not independently reviewed by a clinician. When it is, that person will be named here.

Commercial interest

I run a commercial supplement business, which means I have an interest in the nutrients I write about. That is a conflict, and the commercial disclosure page states it plainly rather than burying it.
